Carthamus

Carthamus is native from the middle east and is mainly cultivated in China and India. It has good heat and light stability and is unaffected by pH.

Lutein

Lutein is obtained from marigold oleoresin, which is extracted from the petals of marigold flowers that grow almost everywhere in the world.
Its main characteristic is the stability to light, heat, and pH.

Curcumin

Turmeric is used as a food condiment and colour, as well as medicine. There are many different varieties, but only Curcuma longa L is used for colour. It tolerates heat and pH extremes.

Carotenes

Carotenes can be obtained by synthesis or extracted from plants, the mold Blakeslea Trispora or Alga. They have good heat and light stability and are unaffected by pH.

Paprika

Paprika is nowadays cultivated in many regions of the globe including Spain. At Coralim we only choose the highest quality raw material to develop our Paprika products. One of its main advantages is that it has good heat stability and is unaffected by pH. It provides a very bright orange colour.

Annatto comes from the seeds of the achiote tree, mostly from South America and Africa. It is quite interesting because it shows good heat and light stability.

Carmine is obtained from the dried female cochineal insect; its main production is based in Peru. It displays good heat and light stability.

The sweet potato is native to South America, locals have cultivated it for thousands of years Its colour can range from pink to a deep red purple. It is stable to heating and light in acidic applications.

Black Carrot

Black carrot is a variety of the more common orange carrot. It’s grown in a large variety of regions and is very popular where it is directly consumed. It is stable to heating and light in acidic applications.

Grape Skin

Nowadays a large variety of grapes are grown all around the Mediterranean region. However, only some varieties that are rich in anthocyanins are suitable for colour. It is stable to heating and light in acidic applications.

Red beet

Red Beet is easy to grow and could be cultivated in many temperate regions. It is not really stable to heating but it is not affected by pH. Beetroot is an interesting value for money alternative in many applications.
